When you are born with an identical twin, the term separation never comes to mind. At least to Mallory Stokes it never did. On February 7, 2020, that word wreaked havoc. She and her twin sister, Mia, were hit head on by a drunk driver along with two of their college softball teammates. Mia was killed tragically on impact, however Mallory miraculously survived. What does she do now? Mallory quickly learned she needed to shine a light for two. She committed herself to keeping Mia's memory alive through her foundation, the Mia Stokes Foundation. Mia's life was lived helping others so there was no doubt what Mallory needed to do. She has continued to help others in need and organizations her sister loved, but she added another mission - raising awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and helping families affected by drunk driving. The foundation has grown into a community of support that has created ripple effects among generations to come. A tragic event that could have turned into a life of sorrow for Mallory is now an influential foundation that will forever shine a light across the nation.
"I encourage you to always drive sober, make a plan and give up your keys. Drunk driving is 100% preventable."
